Leo is an artist, teacher and pattern creator. He has been quilting since 1998 and designing art quilts since 2012. Leo learned piecing techniques in high school, but truly rediscovered his passion for quilting in 1998. Leo stumbled upon art quilting in 2011, and found a true love. He is inspired by uniqueness in physical appearance and the extreme use of color in creating art quilts. Leo loves the realness of the pieces, even though they are not the true colors.
Leo’s award-winning quilts have been exhibited throughout the United States. His original piece “Double the Hipster” received 1st place in the Applique category at the 2022 QuiltCon in Phoenix AZ and is now owned by the International Quilt Museum in Lincoln, NE. His first award came in 2017 at the Dallas Quilt Show for “John Lennon Hidden Notes”.
Leo lives and works from his studio in Sherman Texas. His presentation will be ‘Journey of an Art Quilter’. Check out his website HERE.
